Pharisee 法利赛人,自恃清高者严守律法的古犹太教派成员。来自希腊语Pharisaios,来自希伯来语parash,分开的。即分开的教派,与其它教派不同的教派,该教派以严守律法著称,但同时被其它教派认为过于表面,过于做作,因此,引申词义伪善者,自恃清高者。

Ancient Jewish sect (2c. B.C.E.-1c. C.E.) distinguished by strict observance but regarded as pretentious and self-righteous, at least by Jesus (Matt. xxiii:27). Meaning "self-righteous person, formalist, hypocrite" is attested from 1580s.
